Official beach clean up following high tide – Friday 12 January

11th January 2018

Here are the official details of the beach clean up taking place this coming Friday (January 12).

Impressive as big tides and storms maybe, they inevitably leave large amounts of rubbish washed up onto the beaches of the #Seftoncoast.

Tidelines full of seaweed, driftwood and organic debris are a good thing for the habitat as it provides refuge for invertebrates that many of our birds (and later in the year Natterjack Toads) feed on.

Unfortunately the tides bring in tonnes of man-made refuse too.

If you would like to help clean some of the litter on the Sefton coast, why not join the “Friends of the Sefton Coast” volunteer army for a litter pick at Ainsdale beach this Friday (12.01.18)?

Volunteers will be meeting beside Ainsdale Discovery Centre (PR8 2QB) at 10.30am for a beach clean-up session that will last till 1pm.
