Officers respond to sighting of ‘Sandford’s most WANTED

27th March 2018

If you think this kind of thing could only happen in ‘Hot Fuzz’…

“Swan’s escaped!”

Officers today (Tuesday 27th) responded to a sighting of ‘Sandford’s most wanted’, when an injured swan was reported to be delaying traffic on Scarisbrick New Road in Southport.

On arrival, officers managed to coral the swan into a driveway before contacting help in the form of Southport Swan Rescue staff, who were able to assist in securing the swan and taking it to a vets to get the poor animal the help it needed.

We’re sure Constable Gilbertson never really imagined re-enacting a scene from that movie when he was completing his police application form, and he didn’t have to leap any garden fences, but in the end it was a good team effort in helping one of Her Majesty’s swans that was injured…for ‘The greater good’.
