An evening of renewing old acquaintances and reminiscing took place last night at the Royal Clifton Hotel as 30 pupils from the former Norwood Road County Primary School got together for a reunion. They were all leavers from the junior school in 1968. Many of them had not met or had contact with each other for 34 years.

Planning for the event began in February of 2002 when five of them met up for a drink, having contacted each other through the Friends Reunited website. Since then contact has been established with over 60 of the pupils from the two classes.

Those who were able to make the event had travelled from as far afield as Finland, France and Germany and several from the south of England. Others, who were unable to join in, sent their best wishes from Shetland and Canada.

An enjoyable evening was thought to be had by all and many old acquantances were re-established.

Stories and memories from as long ago as 40 years were shared and verified into the early hours of the morning.

Thanks go to all those who have travelled from near and far to make the evening the success it was. Let’s hope it won’t be another 34 years before they all get back together again.
