North Sefton Volunteers honored at Bootle Town Hall Ceremony.
Dedicated volunteers from Southport and Formby have been honoured for their outstanding contribution to community life in north Sefton.
The group joined more than 130 volunteers from across the borough at a presentation ceremony at Bootle Town Hall which was organised by Volunteer Centre Sefton, part of Sefton CVS, to mark national Volunteers’ Week 2017.
The VIP guest at the event was the Mayor of Sefton, Councillor Dave Robinson, who presented certificates to the volunteers.
Volunteer Centre Sefton figures show that the organisation recognised a total of 105,671 hours of volunteering in the borough during the last financial year.
Based on National Living Wage statistics, this equates to an investment of around £793,000 in the Sefton economy by volunteers over the 12-month period.
And according to Sefton CVS Volunteer and Citizenship Lead, Mike Howlett, this is just the tip of the iceberg as many more volunteers are active right across the borough.
Mr Howlett commented: “Our annual celebration at the Town Hall is a fantastic way for us to pay tribute to the hard work and commitment of volunteers throughout Sefton over the last 12 months.
“Volunteering is an opportunity for anyone to make a contribution to their local community by giving their time, no matter how young or old they are, where they come from or what their background is.
“The one thing that all our volunteers have is their willingness to help. I would like to thank them for making a difference to the lives of a huge number of local people, in particular some of Sefton’s most vulnerable residents.”
