Norovirus continues to circulate SOUTHPORT

Norovirus continues to circulate in the community. You don’t want norovirus. It’s very contagious and the symptoms are very unpleasant.

If you have symptoms of either diarrhoea or vomiting, please do not visit the hospital until you are symptom-free for at least 48 hours, unless it is a genuine medical emergency.

Parents are also asked to keep their children away from hospital at this time.

If the patient you want to visit has these symptoms, our advice is to delay your visit until they recover from this bug.

Symptoms of norovirus include a sudden onset of vomiting and/or diarrhoea. Some people may have a temperature, headache and stomach cramps.

Norovirus is short-lived but very unpleasant. You don’t want it and our patients certainly don’t.

If you’re affected, stay at home, drink plenty of fluids, wash your hands after using the toilet and prior to eating, and clean or disinfect contaminated surfaces.
