The next generation of fundraisers are fabulous

If you are a follower and supporter of Woodlands Animal Sanctuary based in Holmeswood you will know they are an independent registered charity who rely solely upon funds raised by themselves and members of the public.  Well this summer has seen the next generation really step up to the mark, raising hundreds of pounds for the charity.

Alfie Kay, Laurie Kay, Phoebe Ewins & Amy Wright baked and then held a cake sale raising a grand total of £100, which was donated to Woodlands.  Ella Thompson who is 9 yrs old and a cub at the 1st Ormskirk Cub Scouts, has, as part of her personal challenge badge, contacted local shops, businesses and friends and family to see if they would be willing to donate cat food that Woodlands has been in desperate need of recently to feed they many weak and poorly mums and kittens they are caring for. Burscough Bridge Tesco, Spar inBurscough, B&M in Ormskirk, Pets at Home Burscough, Booths & Iceland in Ormskirk all supported Ella in her quest and donated; meaning she was able to present to Woodlands a vast amount of quality cat food, all of which will go towards the nursing of the needy cats and kittens in their care at the moment.

Vulnerable mum cats and kittens, not only take a lot of time and TLC to rehabilitate and treat prior to being given the all clear by the charity’s vet for rehoming, but can also eat their way through a mountain of certain types of food, which can all add to the cost of their care for the charity.

Ella chose to support Woodlands because she loves animals has seen the wonderful work that the charity does and wanted to support them.  Alfie, Laurie, Phoebe and Amy also love animals and wanted to help Woodlands in their quest to help and improve animals’ lives.

Woodlands wanted to acknowledge the achievement of these young fundraisers and have given them each a sponsorship pack for a year as a thank you.  This was presented to the youngsters at their last open in the main arena, to the applause of visitors and proud tears of their parents.

If you would like to support Woodlands Animal Sanctuary then why not hold a coffee & cake morning at work or with your friends, a jumble sale on your drive, garden party, a cake sale or any other activity you enjoy with the added bonus of supporting a worthwhile local charity?

Woodlands next open day is their big, annual Family Fun Day on Sunday 2nd September at their site in Holmeswood.  If you would like to keep up to date with the work they are doing you can also follow them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter or visit their website:  www.woodlandsanimalsanctuary.org.uk
