News from SOUTHPORT Community Policing Team

On 6th August 2018 an elderly female resident from Southport was the victim of a Bogus Official Burglary in her home, whereby an unknown male using fake I/D has gained access to the house, claiming to be from a security company offering Home Safety & crime prevention advice.

In the short time he had access to the property and whilst he had been left alone, he has stolen a quantity of cash from the female’s purse and then left prior to the theft being discovered. Unfortunately at this time the victim & police do not known the males identity, but we encourage all residents to be vigilant to prevent any repeat.

PCSO Adam Tune from Southport Community Team has been supporting the victim in coming to term with the incident. Realising the impact the Burglary has had on the female, PCSO Tune submitted an application to Merseyside Police Federation Charitable Trust for a donation to be made in support of her. Today the officer met with the female and presented her with flowers and gift vouchers.

Michael Comiskey-Quinn aged 19 of Southport has been sentenced to 8 years imprisonment, following conviction for a serious assault which took place in Southport.
