New Queenscourt Hospice Shop in Heart of Southport off to Great Start after Official Opening

5th December 2018

Christmas shoppers flocked to Queenscourt Hospice’s new retail shop in the heart of Southport, as it was officially opened by Liverpool Football Club legend and broadcast pundit, Mark Lawrenson, on Saturday.

Lawrenson cut the ribbon on the brand-new shop, which is located in a prime location on Chapel Street, giving the Queenscourt Hospice retail division a higher profile presence in Southport town centre. He was joined by Debbie Lawson, Queenscourt Hospice Corporate Services Director, Sue Newth, Queenscourt Hospice Area Retail Manager and Sue Kay, Queenscourt Hospice Chapel Street Shop Manager, along with volunteer shop staff and none other than Father Christmas himself.

The team of volunteers who run the shop, alongside Queenscourt Hospice Shop Manager Sue Kay, welcomed in a host of shoppers who were keen to find a bargain amongst its high-end men’s, women’s and children’s clothes, shoes and accessories, toys, books, CDs, games and DVDs and bric-a-brac.

The Chapel Street shop will help to raise much-need funding to support the essential services that Queenscourt Hospice delivers for local people in Southport, Formby and West Lancashire

Every year, Queenscourt supports hundreds of patients with life limiting illnesses, enabling them to achieve the best possible quality of life. In all, it costs over £400 an hour, 365 days a year to keep Queenscourt Hospice running and the charity relies heavily on community support and donations to do this. The new Chapel Street shop will play a vital role in the charity’s fund-raising efforts.
