Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust has strengthened its Board with the appointment of two new non-executive directors.

Jeannete Newman was deputy chief executive and finance director of NHS Central Lancashire until December.

During her career she has worked in health services in Preston, Chorley, Ormskirk and Accrington and has undertaken many different roles from wages clerk to board member. She lives in West Lancashire and succeeds Helen Thompson who left the Trust in April.

Su Fowler-Johnson has been appointed as additional, or desginate non-executive director, whose experience as a nurse, manager and leader in the NHS brings additional support to the Board as the Trust moves towards foundation trust status.

She has lived in Burscough for more than 15 years with her husband. Su also works with a local social enterprise focusing on developing child and adolescent mental health services.

Trust chairman Sir Ron Watson CBE said: “I am very pleased to welcome Jeannette and Su to the team. They bring significant experience at a critical time as we move towards foundation trust status and develop the organisation as a provider of healthcare in hospital, health centres and the home.”

Jeannette will serve until July 2016 and Su to the same date, pending approval by the Council of Governors following the formation of the foundation trust next year. Each will receive remuneration of £6,096 per annum.
