Kew Ward Lib Dem councillor Fred Weavers is delighted.

“There are many hundreds of families in Southport who desperately need somewhere decent to live, ” says Fred.

“They may be living in poor quality flats or in the living room of their parents or be sofa surfing.  They need local housing so that thay can maintain their jobs locally or keep their children in local schools.”

“Building in gaps in our local streets and on ‘brownfield’ land takes pressure off the green belt. These houses are convenient for town by bicycle and public transport so they can help keep our Carbon footpring down.

“Building enough new homes also increases the grant which the Council receives from government, taking pressure off the Council Tax nand helping us to provide services.”
