Mum fears metal post could hurt young footballers

A concerned mum is worried her children will be hurt playing football after finding a metal post in the middle of an Ainsdale pitch.

Jennie Fletcher has contacted OTS news in the hope that the council will remove the dangerous metal post which sits between two goal posts on the Sandbrook Road pitch in Ainsdale.

She claims the council have not done anything about it despite them being told weeks ago.

Jennie told OTS: “Sefton Council have given the all clear to use the football pitch at sandbrook road in Ainsdale and are charging pitch fees of £200 for the season to a junior football team.

“The pitch has been cut, marked and goal post put up and cleared as risk assessed and fit to play however there is a metal box section sticking up in the ground just outside one of the goals.

“This was reported to sefton over a week ago and has still not been removed.

“This could result in a serious injury to a young player, and means the pitch has been unable to be used.

“The pitch is supplied without any changing facilities as these have been condemned.”
