SOUTHPORT MP John Pugh has welcomed the Liberal Democrat nomination for the role of Metro Mayor in Liverpool next year.
The party announced that Prescot Councillor, Carl Cashman will be their candidate for the Liverpool City Region Mayoral election in May 2017.
He will go up against Walton MP Steve Rotheram from the Labour group.
John Pugh, the Lib Dem MP for Southport welcomed Carl’s candidature, saying: “In a field normally dominated by political hacks and re-treads Carl is a breath of fresh air. He wants to help shape the future of every part of the region not just promote the pet projects of a political elite.
“He’s determined that no-one, young or old, will be left behind or without a voice.”
