Motorcyclist dies following collision in Chorley

POLICE are appealing for information after a motorcyclist died following a collision in Withnell, Chorley.

The incident happened at around 12.45pm on Sunday 16 August on Bolton Road.

It is thought that the 21 year old man from Chorley was riding his Yamaha Fazzer heading towards junction 3 of the M65 when he was involved in a collision with a Volvo car.

He was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital where he sadly died later in the evening.

The road was closed for three hours following the collision.

PS 2102 Malcom Bell of the Roads Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic incident and we have specialist officers supporting the family at this time. I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened to get in touch with us on 101 quoting  log number 688 of August 16th.”
