19th December 2015

It was a early start to the evening Thursday 17th December for WLMGOC with us all meeting up at 7.30pm for our christmas meal at briars hall, so with the ladies all dressed up with there party dresses and the gentlemen with black tie or lounge suits a couple of drinks ensued before the 3 course meal began at 8.30pm.

In all 46 members attended our sell out christmas dinner and very splendid it was too with a wide range of starters main meals and desserts.

After the meal we had a Irish raffle where tickets are drawn from a hat and if your number came out you sat down until last man or lady standing won the prize a £25 M&S voucher and the last one standing was……………….???

It was then the turn of a few of the committee to entertain the members with a spoof committee meeting which seamed to go down well (at least there were no tomatoes or cabbage thrown and all the left over meals stayed on the plates and on the tables).

After the coffee and mince pies came the BIG ONE the raffle that two of our members Joyce and Ron Whittle had made up especially for the evening a massive drinks hamper. With tickets purchased on the night for £5 a ticket and even some bought before by members who could not attend the event on the night.

This was to raise money for a charity supported by Ron and Joyce and the charity’s name is Twinkle House a local charity based in Skelmersdale which provides a free sensory-based support service for children from 0-19 with disabilities twinklehouse.co.uk (click here) with a total of £255 being raised from the raffle of the drinks hamper for this well deserving charity with a cheque to be presented in the near future.

So with tickets at the ready and all waiting in anticipation the winning ticket was drawn NUMBER 94 well I couldn’t believe my luck it was ME!!!!!

As the night came to a end with christmas wishes and happy new years being bandied around and exchanged christmas cards getting gathered up off the tables and the last of the mince pies being eaten we bid our farewell to another successful year in the history of West Lancs MG Owners Club.

We would also like to thank Briars Hall and all the staff for there warm and friendly hospitality throughout the year.

Also could we remind anyone who lives in West Lancs or surrounding areas with a classic car and would like to join us having social nights out going to car shows and events and just generally having a bit of fun while raising money for deserving charity’s we meet at Briars Hall Lathom on the third Thursday of every month at 8pm – or click here www.westlancsmg.co.uk and check out our Facebook page West Lancs MG Owners.

And a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to you and yours near or far from WLMGOC.
