Due to strike action Merseyrail will be running a reduced service on Monday 13 March 2017.

    Why is this happening?

New state-of-the art trains that are safer, faster and more reliable will be introduced on the Merseyrail network by 2020.

The RMT union, who represent many Merseyrail guards, has voted for strike action as the new fleet will be driver-controlled operation.

While this happens we will do everything possible to minimise the impact on your journey. Live updates will be posted throughout the day on this website and on Twitter.

Changes to timetables, check before you travel

We are sorry that we are unable to run the previously advertised timetable today.

This is because train drivers, who are not part of the industrial action taking place on the Merseyrail network today, have decided not to cross RMT picket lines.

No trains will run on the Ellesmere Port, Hunts Cross and Kirkby lines. Click here for full timetables.
