Wanted – Peter Fox

Detectives on Merseyside investigating the murders of Bernadette Fox and her daughter, Sarah, believe that a man they want to speak to could possibly be in the London area.

Earlier today officers appealed for the public’s help in tracing a man who they urgently need to speak to.

Detectives launched a murder inquiry yesterday (Friday, 17 April 2015) following the discovery of the bodies of two women at two separate addresses in Bootle. The women have since been identified as Bernadette Fox, 57 years, of Brookhill Road, Bootle, and her daughter, Sarah Fox, 27 years, of Worcester Road, Bootle.

Post mortem examinations have revealed that Bernadette Fox died as a result of asphyxiation, whilst Sarah Fox died from multiple stab wounds.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Rooney, said: “The investigation into these deaths is at an early stage and although the motive is unclear at this time, we believe the offender may be known to the victims.

“I would like to reassure residents who live in the Bootle that we have increased patrols in the area  to provide reassurance and support.

“Officers and PCSOs are out on the ground talking to local residents in the area providing reassurance and support and if required security and crime prevention advice.”

He added: “We are currently trying to trace Peter Fox, the 26-year-old son of Bernadette, as he could have information which could assist with our investigation. I would appeal to Peter to come forward so that we can speak to him following the murders of his mother and sister. We believe that Peter could possibly be in the London area and are working with the Metropolitan Police to try and find him.

“I would also ask the public to help us find Peter as we need to speak to him urgently in relation to the two murders.

“I would stress to the public that if they do see Peter Fox, they should not approach him. We would urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the police on 999.”

Peter Fox is described as a white male, between 5ft 2in and 5ft 5in tall, slight build, with short dark hair (his hair had been shaved in the photograph attached and is no longer shaved) and brown eyes. He speaks with a Liverpool accent.

Members of the public are advised not to approach Mr Fox, but if anyone does see him they should call 999 or report the sighting to their nearest police station.

Anyone with information regarding the murders of Bernadette and Sarah Fox can contact the Major Incident Room on 0151 777 3802/3938 , or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
