Manchester Road was thrown into chaos after van’s wheels somehow turned in on themselves.

Manchester Road, Southport was thrown into chaos earlier this evening after a van’s wheels somehow turned in on themselves, with the vehicle narrowly avoiding a major accident with oncoming traffic (Wednesday 9 August 2017).

Its currently unknown why the van was in such a state that the two front wheels seemingly collapsed in on each other, rendering the vehicle immovable.

Merseyside Police arrived on scene and redirected traffic, however frustrated drivers have been given little time to find alternate routes and as such traffic along St Likes Road and Manchester Road is becoming backed up.

A roadside recovery team walled called but it took over an hour before they arrived on scene to clear away the obstruction.
