    Managing the Revolving Door: Making Staff Changes Easier with Instant Digital Permissions

    Employee turnover introduces gaps in business security, not as a result of catastrophic failure, but from small missed handovers and communication gaps between departments. In today’s flexible working environments (rotating shifts, temporary/agency workers, contractors), these gaps become increasingly difficult to handle manually. An access control solution provides clarity and speed to managing business security by allowing an organisation to update permissions as soon as a person’s role changes.

    Delays Usually Come From Poor Handover

    Typically, the delays experienced by organisations when updating an individual’s access rights come about due to poor handovers. This means that former employees, agency workers and contract staff may retain active access credentials for days or possibly weeks beyond when they actually need access.

Automatic restrictions on access permissions provide reduced risk for organisations and enable them to maintain an accurate record of who is currently entitled to enter the workplace.

    All Workers Do Not Require Equal Levels of Entry

    Not all workers require the same levels of entry. For example, a cleaner may only require early morning entry. A temporary administrative worker may only require entry to the front office, and not the archive room. A covering supervisor may require temporary access to multiple areas of the workplace.

    An effective access control system allows organisations to allocate access rights based upon actual organisational routines, rather than making generalised assumptions. An effective access control solution ensures that an organisation’s staff members are only granted the level of access necessary to perform their daily routine, thereby reducing the likelihood of staff members sharing access cards or requiring other staff members to grant them access.

    Employee turnover will always occur within an organisation. The challenge lies in ensuring that the organisation maintains the ability to rapidly adapt to changes in access. By utilising an access control solution that enables rapid updates to permissions, organisations will be able to eliminate confusion associated with employee turnover, improve organisational security, and create a sense of orderliness within the organisation.
