Man rushed to hospital after Monday night assault

Detectives are canvassing for witnesses after a man was left with serious head injuries in a town centre assault.

Paramedics and police were called to the junction of Lord Street and Seabank Road around 9.30pm last night after a man was assaulted near to the Bold Hotel.

The victim was left with serious injuries needing hospital treatment, although police have since said his injuries are not life threatening.

A Police spokesperson said “We are investigating following reports a man was assaulted at the junction of Lord Street and Seabank Road in Southport last night, Monday 20th December.

“Officers were called at 9.30pm following reports that a man in his 30s had suffered a head injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment but his injury is not believed to be life threatening.”
