Man charged with impersonating an officer and theft

A man has been charged with impersonating a police officer in Halsall.

Police launched an investigation after it was reported a man had approached a group of people at a bus stop in New Street on June 27.

It was alleged the man identified himself as an officer and searched the group, taking a quantity of cash.

Following extensive enquiries a man was arrested in connection with the incident.

Connor Webb, 21, of Boyer Avenue, Maghull, has been charged with impersonating an officer and theft. He has been bailed to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court on September 3.
