    Man bailed following attack that left Southport woman in hospital with serious head injuries.

    Merseyside Police is appealing for witnesses after a woman was seriously injured in Southport on Saturday 18 February.

    Officers were called to Southport hospital at around 2.15am following a report that a woman had been taken to hospital with serious head injuries. Her condition is described as serious.

    Detectives have launched an investigation and are exploring witness, CCTV, house-to-house and forensic enquiries.

    A house in Grundy Close has been preserved for forensic examination.

    A 46 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and was later released on police bail to re-attend at a later date.
