Man arrested in Southport town centre for knuckleduster possession

    By James Cave7th August 2020

A 52 year old man has been arrested for possession of an offensive weapon following an incident on Lord Street, Southport yesterday afternoon (6th August).

At around 3:30pm, a member of the public approached two Police Community Support Officers
PCSO’s, who were on foot patrol in the town centre. She told them that she had seen a man in possession of a knuckleduster.

The PCSO’s located the man, found the knuckleduster and detained him. He was arrested for possession of the knuckleduster and further arrested on suspicion of making threats to cause criminal damage, relating to a matter from earlier in the day. He was taken to custody for questioning.

If you also see someone committing a crime, know of those involved in criminal activity or want to get in touch, please speak to us face to face or DM us @MerPolCC. The town centre is patrolled daily by police officers and PCSO’s on foot patrol, who are also based at Southport Police Station, to keep you safe.
