Paul Holmes, aged 51, of Boswell Street, Toxteth, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court (Wednesday) charged with murdering Rebecca Holmes on Thursday 5th January 2012, at her Cherry Road Flat, Ainsdale, Southport, Merseyside.

The court heard Holmes had smashed a window to gain entry into the flat and stabbed Rebecca about 20 times causing fatal injuries.

He admits manslaughter but denies intending to kill her or cause her serious bodily harm.

The case continues.
