Police have arrested a 20-year-old male for cannabis possession during a patrol of the Botanic Gardens.

Police have increased patrols in the area after an increasing number of incidents of anti-social behaviour.

Sefton Police said: “During one of our continued patrols of Botanic Gardens in Southport and the surrounding area, three 20 year old men were stop searched after making off from officers in the park late on Monday night, 10th August. One of the three was found in possession of cannabis, was arrested and this has been dealt with by Community Resolution.

“Investigations continue into other incidents in the park involving a younger group of boys and girls.
