Dozens of emergency service crews have dashed to Birkdale this evening following a serious crash.
Police, paramedics and fire crews have raced to Lulworth Road in Southport just after 5pm tonight following a collision.
The road has now been closed off entirely and traffic is being diverted from as far back as Lord Street West.
At least 8 emergency response vehicles, including two ambulances, are on scene.
Police are asking everyone to avoid the area while the incident is ongoing.
A statement from Merseyside Police is expected shortly.
