Liverpool Orange lodge marches in Southport July 12th 2014
More than 3,000 members of England’s biggest Orange lodge, based in Liverpool, have been taking part in their traditional 12th July parade.
The supporters hired 30 coaches to take them to Southport where thousands watched them march through the streets earlier on this morning (Saturday 12th July 2014).
The annual parade commemorates the Battle of the Boyne in Ireland, when the Protestant King William beat the Catholic James II in 1690.
Orange lodge members have said they look forward to the march all year, with one member saying: “We’re all brothers and sisters – that’s the way we’re brought up.”
