Liverpool band “The Christians” live at Southport Atkinson
The Christians, the outstanding, soul influenced group who had hits in the late ’80s and ’90s including ‘Forgotten Town’, ‘Harvest For The World’, ‘Born Again’, ‘Ideal World’, and ‘Hooverville’, celebrated their 26th anniversary with a gig at Southport’s Atkinson on Saturday night 8th June 2013.
The gig will coincide with the release of their brand new album Speed Of Life plus Deluxe Anniversary editions of their first two multimillion selling albums The Christians and Colour.
OTS News reporter “Onthespot” was invited to the sound check and photograph the band prior to tonight’s sell out gig.
Formed in Liverpool in 1986 The Christians went on to become one of the UK’s biggest soul bands.
Garry Christian’s distinctive vocals. Still sporting the Raybans, incredibly rich and sultry voice and the string of gorgeous songs that made a million women swoon, female fans – “You’ve still gorrit Gaz la” is a frequent shout.

The current line-up (Garry Christian (lead vocals), Neil Griffiths (rhythm guitar/vocals), Joey Ankrah (lead guitar/vocals), Lionel Duke (drums), Cliff Watson (bass guitar/vocals) and Mike Triggs (keyboards/vocals) are now touring nationwide to promote this new material.
