Litter enforcement officer photographed throwing cigarette end on the floor in Southport

    By 1st August 2016

Double standards – Will they be fined?

An enforcement officer who spends her day slapping fines was caught on camera throwing her own cigarette butt on the floor outside Council offices in Southport.

A resort resident that wished to remain anonymous said: “I was parked outside the Phoenix on  Coronation Walk when I noticed a Sefton Council enforcement officer pacing the pavement smoking.

ots-cig-2“When I saw the officer smoking, I decided to take a photo, I couldn’t believe it when she throw it onto the floor.”

The enforcement officer then walked back up to parking offices – seeing this really made me feel angry about the system”

“There was an incident the other day when a woman dropped something by accident while helping her  child out of the car and another time when a mum was fined when her baby dropped its dummy from the pram.

“To spend her day fining people for the very same thing, I just thought it screamed of double standards.”

OTS News has approached Sefton Council for a comment.
