The directors of Shore Radio have been saddened to hear of the demise of our local commercial station, Dune FM. We are aware that John Jessop and his team have worked hard; since taking over the station to ensure not only that our own local station would survive, but would continue to provide a distinctive and unique voice, serving Southport, Sefton and West Lancashire. Despite their best efforts, it seems that for the time being at least, our area is to be left without the distinctive sound of Dune. This, of course, will also impact upon many within our community, who have come to regard the now defunct station as a valued source of local news, information regarding local events, sports and, of course, distinctive and often unique specialist music shows.

The Directors of Shore Radio CIC have been planning, for some time, to resurrect a Community Radio service. It was our intention, where possible, to work with, our former local commercial station. It has been, and continues to be, our intention to work to an output format biased towards discussion over a purely music based approach. This, we believe, will allow local groups, individuals, sports clubs, charities and businesses more opportunity to have their voices heard. It will, of course, also provide a genuine alternative to the often bland and featureless output offered by other stations.
The Directors of Shore Radio will be working hard over the coming weeks as we speed up plans to bring local radio back to our area.
