Letter to the editor:  Town tourism unit vanished along with Atkinson

“Dear OTS News, I was shocked this weekend to find that the Atkinson is closed for a decent part of Saturday afternoons and all day Sunday.”

“We were also stunned to discover the tourism Office, which had moved there from Eastbank Street when The Atkinson opened, no longer exists and just seems to have information stands, so would still have been closed on a Sunday.

This really surprises me as over 20 million pounds was spent on updating and improving the Atkinson in recent years.

Southport is supposed to be a tourist resort and yet has no proper tourist office and one of its main attractions is closed on a Sunday.”
