Furious Meols Cop residents say they are flabbergasted that Sefton Council are telling people to have a picnic in their local park despite it being taken over by travellers.

One letter OTS has received says “I can’t believe Bootle Council wants us residents to celebrate World Friendship Day ‘by enjoying a picnic in a park’

“Do they not know that our park now belongs to a load of travellers? They have taken over Meols Cop and we don’t feel safe now.”

World Friendship Day is held on Tuesday, July 30 and has been celebrated since 1930. It is all about bringing people together both to celebrate old friendships and create new ones.
