11th March 2015

Hesketh-with-Becconsall Parish Council and VISIT Sefton and West Lancashire are launching a beautiful and exciting new walk, the Hesketh Bank Heritage Trail which explores the history of the parish. To mark the launch the Parish Council will be leading a free, guided walk over the route on Saturday 21 March 2015 leaving at 10am from Booths Supermarket, Station Road, Hesketh Bank. On the way local historians will be briefly telling the story of the area. There is no need to book a place.

The Heritage Trail will cover many interesting and pretty areas including a visit to Becconsall Old Church, Hesketh Bank Boatyard and the bank of the River Douglas.

The circular route followed is 4 miles long and we will be taking a break at the end at All Saints Church Hall, Station Road where there will be talks and displays and free refreshments.

If you are unable to join the walk VISIT has produced a leaflet which will allow walkers to follow the route themselves. Copies will be available from West Lancashire libraries.

Walkers should arrive 15 minutes before departure times, wear suitable footwear and clothing. Children should be accompanied by an adult.

Car parking is available at Hesketh-with-Becconsall Community Centre and All Saints Church Hall, but public transport is better. Please see http://traveline.info for help planning your journey
