Police appeal for wanted man John Johnson

POLICE are appealing for a man who is wanted for absconding from prison.

John Charles Johnson, 57, was last seen at HMP Kirkham prison on 27 December 2013 and has not been seen since. It is believed, however, that he has recently been in the Lancashire area.

Police are advising members of the public to not approach Johnson but to contact them if they see him or know of his whereabouts.

Johnson is described as a white male, 5ft 10 and of medium build.

Detective Inspector Warren Atkinson said: “We are keen to locate this man as soon as possible and return him to custody at the earliest opportunity. I would ask people to have a good look at his photograph and let us know if you think you know where he is.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting log number LC-20131227-1037 and 1185.

Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.

UPDATE 14:50 29/7/2014

Wanted man John Johnson has now been found and arrested. Police traced him to an address in Blackburn earlier today (Tuesday 29 July) and would like to thank everyone for their help with the enquiries.
