Labour Party tells activists: “abandon Southport and go and help in Tarleton and Leyland”

The Labour Party is asking Southport Labour activists to go and help the Labour candidate in South Ribble constituency rather than work in Southport. Hardly surprising, really with Labour being written-off by the bookies in Southport as being 100-to-1 rank outsiders.
Below is their email to Southport Labour people:
Activist —I’m emailing you because you have a unique role to play in this election.

With the help of hundreds of thousands of Labour members and supporters like you, we’ve been able to create a campaign of incredible size and impact.

But with two weeks to go, the election is far from won. In fact, it’s too close to call in more than 100 of the most marginal constituencies in the country.

Right now, we need more volunteers in South Ribble, a constituency that is going to decide this election. Simply put, without your help our path to victory and the chance to form a Labour government on 8 May becomes less certain.

Activist, can you take the step that will have the greatest impact on how this election ends and volunteer with your local battleground team?

We are, of course, counting on your vote on 7 May to win. But the biggest thing you can give to this campaign right now is a couple of hours securing the few votes we need to turn the tide in South Ribble. To date, 130 people in your constituency have joined the fight — and they need your help. Thanks,
