Labour City boss under fire for foul mouth

    By 8th March 2016

The Liverpool ‘Mayor’ who wants to rule Southport has run into further trouble. Labour’s Joe Anderson caused a scandal when he spent £89,000 of Council Tax Payers’ money on legal bills. He used the cash in his fight to try to justify being paid by Sefton Council for doing nothing at all over five years.

But now Joe Anderson has come under attack for foul-mouthed rants – on Twitter and even in a recent interview with the Financial Times – which might put investors off from ever coming anywhere near the Liverpool Region. Words he has favoured about local residents include ‘fart’ and “sh*t-for-brains”.

Mayor Anderson was originally kept out of the leadership of the Liverpool City Region by other Labour councillors but this year they put him in charge. Now, he is the hot favourite to take over the whole city region as regional mayor courtesy of David Cameron’s insistence that Southport and St Helens should come under the control of a single Liverpool-based Regional Mayor.
