Knife attack leaves town centre in lockdown

Police have closed off part of Chapel Street this evening after a reported stabbing.

Southport town centre is currently on lockdown following the alleged attack and residents nearby are being told to stay indoors as it’s not clear if the culprit has been detained.

The attack happened just before 9pm at the entrance to Southport train station.
Witnesses or anyone with information should call 101 immediately.
