Southport’s historic King’s Gardens is set to launch a new comedy trail and it could feature your favourite family friendly jokes.
The trail will inject some fun and humour into a visit to the gardens while celebrating its seaside heritage, with the winning 25 jokes being placed on benches located around King’s Gardens.
The competition will be judged by the Friends of King’s Gardens and the King’s Gardens Team with the winning jokes announced on Saturday 6 September.
Cllr Ian Moncur, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Children Schools, Families and Leisure, said: “This is a great opportunity for local families to get involved with the regeneration of the gardens. The comedy trail will no doubt be a big hit with the public and I look forward to reading the winning entries.”
For the past two years, Sefton Council has managed a major transformation of the historic seafront gardens after being awarded more than £4 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) through their Parks for People programme.
It is one of the largest current park restoration projects in the UK and is entirely externally funded.
Entries should be no longer than 40 characters per line and a maximum of 4 lines long. Jokes can be sent in via email to the King’s Gardens Team email@example.com, the blog or by post: King’s Gardens Comedy Trail, Parks and Greenspace Service, Sefton Council, 1st Floor Magdalen House, 30 Trinity Road, Bootle, L20 3NJ.
The competition closes Friday, August 22.
