KGV College Celebrates A Level Success

Staff and students at King George V College in Southport are celebrating another year of outstanding A Level results.

An impressive 66% of the College’s Advanced Level cohort have achieved at least one A* or A Grade with 77% of students obtaining high grades in all three of their A Levels.

The College has maintained an overall A Level pass rate of 99% which places KGV among the best performing colleges in the country. Thirty subjects secured 100% pass rates including Chemistry, Biology and Philosophy and many achieved 100% high grades including Ancient History, Art and Drama.

Acting Principal Anne-Marie Francis said, “I am absolutely delighted! Such exceptional results reflect the hard work and aspiration of King George V students and staff.

“This year group are the first to receive results following the changes to A Levels and these students have undertaken a two year programme of study with one exam at the end. We have been on a journey of discovery together and they are truly a credit to the college, their families and themselves.

The college also received a 100% pass rate for BTEC Advanced Level Extended Diplomas with over 90% of these at Distinction grade or above.

Anne-Marie added, “KGV students have achieved such excellent grades that many have free choice of university destination including Oxford or Cambridge. We know all our leavers will go onto great things and we wish them every success.”

Julian McInerney, Chair of Governors, added, “I’d like to congratulate all students and staff, whose hard work and commitment has produced such impressive outcomes.

“A level results like this demonstrate the quality of education available at King George V College.”
