Kew McDonald’s customers left thirsting for more after drinks shortage

By On The Spot News26th August 2021

Thirsty McDonald’s customers desperate to keep their children entertained over the summer break have been told the Brexit stock shortage has now taken an even bigger toll.

McDonald’s restaurant in Kew has now run out of orange juice, bottled water and fruit shoots, to add to the growing furore over milkshake-gate.

Fruit shoots and orange juices are the staple addition to the majority of McDonald’s happy meals, meaning hundreds of families will either go without or have to give their children the choice of a fizzy sugar drink instead.

An updated statement from McDonald’s UK said it was “working hard” to limit the impact on deliveries and customers and had taken some items off its menus for now.

It confirmed the lorry driver shortage was one reason behind the disruption.

Its statement said: “As reported, a number of issues are impacting retailers in the UK at the moment, one of which is the nationwide shortage of HGV drivers.”
