Southport lad, Jonathan Cunningham MBE was contacted by BBC to provide terror analysis following the horrific terror attack in London. Jonathan was asked to travel to London to be filmed in the BBC main studios but after they realised that he was located in Southport a Skype interview was urgently arranged. ‘I was sitting in the back garden enjoying the sun when the phone went asking me if I would travel to London…I said there might be a problem as I’m in Southport. So we set the Skype up…they said would I be ok if we put Liverpool as the location…no way I said we must have Southport as that is where I live, so I was pleased when they actually displayed Southport on the TV.’
Jonathan is perfectly placed to provide commentary following his days as head of military operations in Belfast. He has extensive experience in insurgency operations oversees and a key understanding of working with covert agencies.
Jonathan is now a regular counter terror commentator and has been interviewed extensively on media channels. Only recently Jonathan featured on Sandgrounder Radio and Radio Merseyside after the Manchester attacks, providing immediate running analysis on the events as they unfolded.
