Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a Southport Bat Walk

Sefton Council is holding four fantastic free Bat Walks this month in parks across the borough.

The events, in partnership with the Friends of Groups and West Lancs Bat Conservation Trust, are led by Community Parks Officers and will give participants the chance to see these magnificent creatures up close.

Sessions are as follows:

September 9 – Derby Park, Worcester Road, Bootle, L20 9AA – Friends of Derby Park – session starts at 6.30pm and will include a ‘Make a pet Bat’ session.

September 10 – Botanic Gardens, Bankfield Lane, Churchtown, PR9 7NB – Botanics Gardens Community Association – session starts at 7pm

September 23 – Kings Gardens, Esplanade, Southport, PR8 1QX – Friends of Kings Gardens – session starts at 6pm and will include a ‘Make a Pet Bat’ session.

September 24– Victoria Park, College Road, Crosby, L22 2AP – Friends of Victoria Park – session starts at 7pm

As the parks are not lit, all participants are asked to bring a torch to help them see their way around the park.

The sessions are weather dependent and will be cancelled in the event of poor conditions.

Donations are welcome to assist the Bat Conservation Trust carry on their work at the bat hospital.
