Hundreds ignore safety advice as Merseyside death rates soar

Hundreds of people have ignored social distancing warnings today and gathered round Southport Pier and kings Gardens.

Groups of bikers, tourists and families have flooded the promenade and beach area of the town with police overrun trying to enforce social distancing.

Yesterday sefton Council announced that the region is behind the rest of the country and still experiencing a higher death rate than the rest of England.
