Unite Martial Arts Academy in Southport enjoyed a fantastic weekend at the Taekwondo National Championships on the 20-21st September , bringing back an impressive haul of medals including a gold and two silver. Competing against a field of over 700 other competitors over the course of the weekend, Unites young fighters put on an outstanding display and wowed a capacity crowd with their powerful and dynamic kicking techniques.

Fighters came from clubs far and wide to compete in Manchester, with GB Olympic team members also attending the event. Jake Cribb and Joe Dove dominated a strong category to come 1st and 2nd respectively, while Ellie Mawdsley put on an exemplary showing in her final, being narrowly beaten for the gold by a GB National team member. The future looks bright for the Unite Fighting Team after having recently put on an extremely successful competition at their club based on Tulketh Street.
