House fire in Southport

Crews attended a fire in Central Avenue, Southport, on Sunday, 30th December.

MFRS were on the scene at 7.23am. Two fire engines attended.

On arrival, crews discovered a fire in a first-floor bedroom of a semi-detached house.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze before ventilating the property.

One person, suffering smoke inhalation, was given oxygen therapy by firefighters, before being assessed at the scene by NWAS and taken to hospital for precautionary checks.

A bedroom was damaged by fire, heat and smoke, with he remainder of the property sustaining severe to light smoke damage.

Crews remained at the scene until 8.39am.
