Hot air balloon landing Victoria Park Southport

Residents in Southport were concerned for a hot air balloon that was flying very low over houses in Southport this evening (Friday 7th June 2013).

OTS was inundated with calls and text messages from local residents worried about the pilot and four passengers as the balloon narrowly missed row of houses on Rotten Row before landing on Victoria Park.

The balloon set off from Wrightington near Wigan at about 8:00pm on a journey to Southport land was scheduled to land on the beach at 9:30pm.

The landing was cut short by the pilot who made a controlled landing in the park instead.

The balloon’s passengers waved to onlookers as they came into land.
