HM Coastguard Southport rescue two stuck on Longton Marshes

24/03/19. 13:23hrs.

HM Coastguard Southport were paged to assist in the rescue of 2 casualties stuck in mud in a gully on Longton Marshes.

The team, along with back up teams from Crosby and Lytham, headed to scene where 2 persons were stuck in mud with a flooding tide.

Lancashire fire search and rescue teams arrived on scene shortly before Coastguard teams and were able to free the casualties as the flooding tide rose above their chest.

A challenging incident with a happy end.
