HM Coastguard Southport assist in dolphin rescue

HM Coastguard Southport assisted with the rescue of a stranded dolphin on Southport Beach on Tuesday afternoon.

The Coastguard team, assisted by lifeboat crews, raced towards the rising tide and successfully guided the Dolphin back to open water.

The HM Coastguard Southport team consists of up to 6 members who are all volunteers and are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.

The team assists the public and other emergency services on and around the Sefton/Lancashire coastline.
