10th November 2020

Sefton Council’s highways team say they are grateful after residents thanked them for fixing a series of pot holes in Birkdale.

Campaigners and residents in Westbourne Road had recently put pressure on the council to address a series of what were identified as ‘defects’ on the road surface.

OTS understands following the complaints the road was assessed and later found to have deteriorated in bad weather.

Now the road has been treated residents have thanked the council for their hard work.

A council spokesperson said “We are always very grateful of any kind words from residents, especially when they reflect the hard work and efforts of our tireless Highways and Locality Services teams.

“As we have previously stated, following Mr Prendergast’s comments an inspection was carried out and it was determined that the defects identified at the time of inspection did not meet the councils repair intervention criteria.

“However since that time we have been actively monitoring Westbourne Road and our technicians have recently identified a small amount of weather impacted deterioration. As a result selective patch repairs have been carried out.”
