Southport Community Centre on Norwood Road has teamed up with Include-ITMersey to bring residents of Kew and High Park free support with computers.
Include-IT Mersey, a project which provides digital and employability skills to eligible learners, facilitates free drop in sessions for members of the public to attend. The sessions at the community centre will be run by Digital Champion volunteers and will use equipment provided by Southport Community Centre to guide locals.
The sessions start on Wednesday 23rd January 2019 and will run weekly from 10am-12.30pm.
Lauren Jones, Volunteer Coordinator for Include-IT Mersey said:
“We’re really pleased to be able to hold these sessions at Southport Community Centre alongside the sessions we currently run at The Atkinson. Learning computer basics can have a positive effect on people’s lives by increasing access to information, promoting independence and expanding communication channels”.
There is no need to book, just turn up, grab a cuppa and get some support from volunteers. Learners can bring their own device such as a tablet or smart phone, if they would prefer to.
For those that would like more training, Include-IT Mersey’s partners, 3tc are running a beginner’s computer and employability course at Southport Community Centre for those aged 40+ who are not currently in paid work. The course will start on Thursday 24th January.
The Include-IT Mersey project is funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery, through the Big Lottery Fund.
