Hero train staff act fast to avoid hitting drunk on the line

Heroic train staff are being hailed by passengers after avoiding hitting a drunk man near Formby this evening.

Numerous Passengers have contacted OTS News to hail Merseyrail staff on the 5.40 train between Formby and Southport after stopping safely to avoid hitting a drunk man walking down the train track.

Both the driver and guard on the Southport bound train took quick action to keep both the man and passengers safe, as they managed to grind to a halt to avoid hitting a middle aged drunk man who was stumbling across the tracks near to Ainsdale nature reserve.

Passengers say the train was stopped for five minutes while the tresspasser stumbled and struggled to climb over a fence to return back to a public footpath.

It’s thought he drunkenly stumbled the wrong way after walking across Fisherman’s Path.
